BEGINNER'S SMOOTHIE STACK: BLACKBERRY CASHEW DREAM
Smoothie Stacks! If you haven't heard of this, it's a fun fad, made popular by countless colorful posts on Instagram- multi layered smoothies. Different colors and different flavors stack on top of each other in a single glass. It's like a healthy version of ordering Superman ice cream, or 3 scoops of what have you in a waffle cone at Baskin Robbins.
NEWBIES: Don't be intimidated! You've got this! I've designed this recipe just for you- a delicious flavor combo of cashews and blackberries, and a simple recipe with minimal ingredients and easy instructions for getting your stack to look pro. No need to wash out the blender to avoid color mixing between making each layer! Enjoy!
Oh, and Mom, if you read this, I hope you make it. Cashews are Dad's favorite nut afterall, and you've harvested enough blackberries from your garden this year to make smoothies ad infinitum.
Blackberry Cashew Dream
1 frozen banana
1/4 cup of raw cashews
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Tbsp unsweetened coconut
2 tsp vanilla
enough water to blend
Place the ingredients above in your high speed blender and blend until you’ve reached a thick smoothie consistency. Pour 1/2 of the mixture into your glass as a bottom layer. Use the remaining mixture in the blender as a base for the blackberry layer.
Blackberry layer (top):
Add a handful of frozen blackberries to the remaining base mixture.
Blend the blackberry layer until you’ve reached a thick smoothie consistency. Slowly pour the blackberry smoothie on top of the bottom layer already in your cup. Enjoy!
You can always add liquid as needed, but you cannot remove it! Go easy at first adding a little water at a time so you can achieve a thick enough smoothie to layer easily.
