CHOCOLATE COLLAGEN PROTEIN SMOOTHIE BOWL
I recently shared my new obsession with Vital Proteins Marine Collagen in my previous post with a recipe for a protein shake. As promised, here's the same recipe amped up with a little added healthy fat from chia seeds and crunchy toppings in the form of a smoothie bowl to take this supplement to the next level, a post workout meal replacement. This is nearly identical to the previously posted shake recipe, just made thicker by using less liquid, and with some added calories and nutrients. Check out my previous post to read all of the amazing benefits of collagen, and why I choose the Vital Proteins Marine Collagen brand. Happy smoothie bowl making!
Chocolate Collagen Protein Smoothie Bowl
4-5 frozen bananas
handful of greens (spinach, chard, kale, or a combo of these)
2 heaping Tbsp cocoa powder or raw cacao powder
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup raw unsalted nuts (almonds, macadamia nuts, or a combo of both)
1 Tbsp vanilla extract (no alcohol)
2 Tbsp chia seeds
enough filtered water to blend
2 scoops Vital Protein Marine Collagen powder
raw unsalted pistachio nuts
Blend all smoothie ingredients in a high speed blender until fully combined. As with any smoothie bowl recipe, be sure to use as little liquid as possible to achieve a thick, ice cream like consistency. If you have a Vitamix, use your tamper to facilitate blending. If you have another type of blender simply add a little bit of liquid at a time, use the pulse setting, stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula to break up any air bubbles until you've fully blended the ingredients into a smooth thick texture. Pour in a bowl, add toppings and enjoy!
*NOTE: Nuts, vanilla and water blended together make unsweetened nut milk. If you already have homemade nut milk on hand, you can simply use that.
